COMMUNITY
The Hideaway is a community-focussed charitable organisation, run by local people, for local people. Whilst we have a big focus on families with younger children, we are also here to support all members of the fantastic community we live in. As we provide some of these services for the residents of Partington and Carrington, we’re happy for anyone who can benefit to also engage with what we have going on.
As the coronavirus crisis hit in March 2020, we were forced to temporarily close the doors to the café and play centre however, we weren’t content to simply shut up shop and wait it out. Working closely with Trafford Council and local voluntary organisations we were proud to open the Hope Centre – one of Trafford’s 6 community response hubs. Throughout lockdown along with a team of incredible volunteers and support from local partners such as the People’s Church, Your Housing, Blue Sci and the Children’s Centre we were able to provide food parcels, energy top ups, hot meals, lunches, prescription collections and well-being calls for thousands of local residents.

As lockdown restrictions began to ease, we started to look at the next phase of support for our community. Whilst none of us know quite what the future holds, we do know that many people are already facing unemployment, mounting debt, mental health problems, children have fallen behind with education and those at highest risk are still unsure whether or not it’s safe to leave the house at all just yet and all of this in a community where so many households were already classed as living in poverty.

The work of the Hope Centre will be continuing for the foreseeable future along with some existing and new community services. If you would like to support or access any of the services, just go to the relevant page.
